Marimo, a Japanese word which translates to ‘seaweed ball’ are not moss at all – they’re a rare form of spherical deep green, velvety algae.
The latin name for Marimo is Cladophora aegagropila.
Very easy to care for, store in the vessel filled with tepid clean water and place in low to medium light (not direct sunlight). Every couple of months, replace the water in the vessel and clean the vessel with warm soapy water if there is any algae on the glass. It is also advisable to carefully run the Marimo under tepid water and gently roll between your hands to keep them clean.
